Welcome to
MTA Sports Group
As a family-run athlete management business, we pride ourselves on providing expert player support, care and management to young athletes to give them the best possible chance of having a successful career within their sport.
MTA Sports Group was formed in 2017 by two brothers Mark and Alex, both are qualified scouts and coaches within the football industry. With a passion for football and sport, we want to provide an opportunity for young athletes worldwide. Through our years in the athlete recruitment industry, we have seen many players miss out on opportunities, not because they aren’t good enough, but because they don’t have the right support and management team around them to offer expert guidance and set them on the right path to a successful, fulfilled career.
Mark Griffiths
Mark is the co-founder of MTA Sports Group, along with his twin brother, Alex.
Having suffered a career ending injury at the age of 19, Mark had little choice but to explore his options and discover how to stay involved in his one true passion, sport.
After completing his bachelors degree in Business Economics, at the University of Liverpool, Mark took on various coaching roles in the UK before moving to the USA.
It was here Mark developed a wider understanding of the various opportunities and pathways available to athletes, as well as the need for player support and mentorship for these pathways to become a reality. This lead to the development of the MTA Sports Group Player Care Program.
Through the program, Mark and the team have been able to; secure athletes scholarships at American Universities; connect players to professional and semi-professional clubs in the UK, Europe and USA; connect players to development programs/academies in the UK; provide expert advice to ensure all players have the knowledge and tools to maximise their potential and reach their goals.
Mark is now based is England running UK operations.
Alex Griffiths
Alex is the co-founder of MTA Sports Group, with his twin brother, Mark, who both grew up with a shared love for sport as players, competing on the same field as each other with Football and Rugby.
Alex completed a bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters degree in Sports Management before moving to Florida, USA for three years as a football/soccer coach whilst also working for current partners, ASM Sports Group who are a Sports Agency and USA Scholarship Agency.
When returning to the UK, Alex created MTA Sports Group after witnessing many players miss out on bigger opportunities purely because they had a lack of player care, including essential marketing material (profiles & video footage) and knowledge of how to present themselves to coaches and scouts. This is also something he went through himself as a young player, having not been educated on wider opportunities around the world and how to promote himself.
Alex is passionate about helping young athletes achieve what they deserve and removing the obstacle of not having the correct support or connections to gain exposure to the right people.
Alex is now back in Florida managing our USA based partners.
